What is the difference between a SMALL GROUP and a BIBLE STUDY?

A "small group" of people may engage in a bible study but its primary purpose is generally to be and share together. A bible study may be large or small with it primary purpose being the study of all or a portion of the bible.

What is the difference between a SMALL GROUP and a BIBLE STUDY?
I have been apart of many "small groups" and "bible studys" and i would probably say there is not much difference because often times, people use both of these terms in the same way... But if i would brake down the differences i would say... A small group is a more personal and intamite time with a few people who can relate to one another and share their struggles and encourage one another... A bible study is more of a teacher/student settting where there is a main idea of the session and something is taught to a group and the group in turn shares opnions and answers questions.

Both of these are obviously seen in the church... but there are many other groups and meetings people have that have the same purposes and ultimate goals as a small group or bible study... which would be to create a place for people with common ground to come and have the ability to open up and receive or give out words of advice. For example, AAA... People who have alcohol problems come together and share their problems and are able to talk to others with the same problem.

Hope this helped!! Have a great day:)
Reply:Bible Study is more centered on the Bible, and Small group isn't necessarily centered on the Bible, but perhaps just sharing your spirituality with others and fellowshipping with others. However, we normally study the Bible in a small group because it aids in discussion and getting questions answered--you don't want to have 30 people in a room trying to discuss the Bible--that's a class.
Reply:A small group, is a small group of people (although you did not specify people, I am assuming you meant this and not say.. a small group of goats who eat grass together).

A bible study is a group of people who study the bible... as the name implies.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, the definition of this term remains the same.
Reply:Bible study is taking a scripture and studying what it says and how it pertains to your life.

Small group comprises of peers in the same age group to help build each other up. It's based on life experiences and how to deal with peer pressure, divorces and life's struggles and know that there are others like you and friends to help you in times of trouble.
Reply:Apples and oranges, dude. You want to define your term - unless 'SMALL GROUP' has a special religious meaning this question makes no sense.
Reply:one group does whatever! and the other studies the bible!
Reply:how many unbelievers are there reading the story book
