Do inmates, shut-ins, or people who are housebound have opportunities for Bible Study?

Many people aren't able to leave their place of residence or nursing homes due to illness, old age, and other reasons. Also, people in prisons have limited contact with others. Are there any provisions or opportunities for these people to have Bible studies if they desired them? Are there any organizations who visit shut-ins or inmates, taking the Bible Study to them? Thanks

Do inmates, shut-ins, or people who are housebound have opportunities for Bible Study?
Yes, yes, and yes. There is an extensive, and expensive, religious program in prisons in all 50 states. People who are home bound have the opportunity to watch religious programming on television or can enlist the help of several organizations who do operate programs like that.
Reply:I guess you can bring the Bible study to them if you wish to visit inmates.

Other then that, I dont think any kind of in-prison, or in nursing home Bible study programs are offered.

Maybe in Nursing homes, theres a chapel in those to I know, most at least, but I dont know about all.
Reply:Yes there is ,i know cause i been to jail and the Bibles are freeAnd Christians come to pray and worship with us.Old people there not afraid of inmates who believe in God.They are happy to come to share with us.
Reply:yes they do, the internet provides some great access to studies of the Word. we have groups of people who go into homes for the elderly and do a service for them. the prison here allows radio to listen to the study of God's wonderful Word. we also have a prison ministry and go into the prison and teach the Word.
Reply:Churches can often go into prisons to hold bible studies for the inmates. I think it depends on the prisons director, you obviously have to have thier permission. Some even let you bring in other reading materials besides bibles to have inmates read to learn about specific things. You don't always have to be a Pastor to go and minister either...if it's something you are interested in, ask. Inmates are often cast aside, lots of people don't want to help them but they are apart of the God's people as well.

Many people go into nursing homes to minister/witness to patients.

I think it is a great kingdom building opprotunity. Blessings.
Reply:Jehovah's Witnesses have an extensive free home Bible study program which includes the people you have mentioned. This program reaches people in more than 235 lands and has helped many people, including inmates and housebound or disabled ones to enjoy Bible truth.
Reply:Why would anyone need to leave home for Bible study? I do ALL my Bible study at home. It isnt in a code than needs someone yo decode it for you. If you have a Bible, study it.
Reply:I sure hope not...what's the point? They are going to hell anyway. Prisoners don't deserve to have Bible study. They don't even deserve to read. They should be beaten during every waking moment. They are in prison, not summer camp.

Oh look...two thumbs down...I guess people think I'm dumb...I guess my mom WAS wrong...I'm dumb...
Reply:Yes. Many church groups visit nursing homes and prisons. They do door to door ministering.
Reply:Some read the bible. Some read the Koran. Some cry until they're released. Some become artists.

There are many other options than the bible.
Reply:Thats what ministers do Mon. through Sat., as well as many lay people in different churches.
Reply:Inmates? Yes. In fact, they have the opportunity to study ANY religion if a minister of that religion can be found who will come to the prison.

Shut ins and housebound are often having the benefit of the internet to join bible study groups online, in real time streaming chat.

Others have the opportunity provided by their church; friends and others come by and do bible study in their homes with them.

As to organizations you'd have to look locally.
Reply:Oh yes, the prison ministry is very strong in fact, Just recently a prison Minister visited our church and commented on how the Gospel has changed their destroyed lives and has given them hope.

And yes, people who are homebound have many different methaods for Bible studies in the Home, many of them are online easily done so with free dial up internet
