What is the best way to study the Bible to get a complete understanding?

If there is a web site that helped you with the answer, please site it :)

What is the best way to study the Bible to get a complete understanding?
Here are my opinions: First, I think it is important to read Scripture and ask God to reveal what he wants you to learn. But I also have gained a great deal by the many scholars who have studied and written about the Word.

I am a big, big fan of Andrew Murray. He was a pastor, missionary, teacher, and the author of more than 240 books. His writings are very deep and he it totally Bible-centered. You can read some of his books online and download them FREE since they are past the copywrite date.

If you REALLY want to go deep, study from The Holiest of All, which is a verse-by-verse study of the Book of Hebrews. This one is not available online but you can order it. Another one that is very powerful is “The Blood of Christ.” It changed my life and helped me understand the amazing accomplishments the Christ’s blood made possible.

I wish every Christian would read The Blood of Christ by Andrew Murray.
Reply:Here are my favorites.
Reply:Study the bible with the help of an expert teacher. Someone who will reference sections as they teach.

This is usually done through church classes taught by a pastor. Most chuch pastors have mastors or doctorates in the stuff.

Wouldn't you go learn something from an expert if it were schooling? Wouldn't you want that expert to refer you to sections in the books you are studying. Go to a pastor that teaches from the bible and refers back to that regularly on topics.
Reply:Call your church. . . or find a church. Churches offer bible study classes (free). It takes time to get an understanding, not just a quick blurb on a web-site, or quick answer from someone like me. A professional will help you best.

Spiritualy is like exercise, If don't exercise(spirituality or physically), you get flabby and have negative consequesnces. If you only exercise once (goto church/or Bible study/one step aerobic class), you will see very little results ( I often find pain, and more confusion when I only go once ). . .If you make exercise (spirituality or physically) a part of your normal routine then you will see benefits beyond your wildest dreams.

Have fun, Spirituality (and Church) isn't a chore, it's a gift from God, enjoy his gift.
Reply:Here's a great place to have help in understanding the Bible.

They also cover alot of topics pertinent to life today.
Reply:The best way is to call your church and ask if they have a class called 'EFM' 'Education for Ministry'

they go deeply into the Bible and it usually is free or a small fee for the classes.

second ask your church when you could attend Bible study groups. this usually is free but do not go as deeply as the EFM classes.

third, start in the New Testament then when finished reading this, go to the Old Testament.

good luck,
Reply:If you love God with all your being, have a circumcised heart, and are guided by the Holy Spirit, you have a good start to understanding Scripture. Knowledge is no substitute for faith. The Bible will not have Holy meaning to one who does not have faith.

Psalm 1:2 But [Blessed is the man] his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (compare with Joshua 1:8)

I believe you must know the OT in order to understand the NT. Those who look for differences %26amp; changes in Scripture will lead you astray; those who find unity, commonality, synchrony between the OT %26amp; NT are on the right track.

Don't follow gurus, cult leaders... %26amp; don't follow well established religions of old heretic cults (e.g. Emperor Constantine %26amp; the Popes %26amp; the reformers who did not removed the pagan-based holidays %26amp; practices like Sunday worship, Christmas, Easter).

Follow the Messiah who Wrote God's Law, who was the Word made flesh, who lived a perfect Torah-observant life w/o sin. He explained the perfect Law of God; He corrected when men had made laws which were conflicting with God's Law - that was the issue He had with the Pharisees, they were following their traditions rather than the Torah.
Reply:Try studying with Jehovah's Witnesses. All the information they use is from the bible and their literature is based and parallels with the scriptures.
Reply:Use a Bible that has a good concordance for cross-references. Alot of New Testament verses are part of Old Testament verses or just refer to them in one way or another. To fully understand alot of N.T.'s verses, you'll need to be able to find out which O.T.'s verses they refer to. Lots of studying.
Reply:The best way to study the Bible is to attend Sunday school for adults that's what it is for and if you want more you can also join a Bible study and share your thoughts, questions and opinions with others. Both are free.
Reply:I've read the Bible, which is a good place to start, but I find more help in reading books about the Bible. Really you can just pick and choose, have a field day at the library see what interests you most, since we all have different core beliefs, and of course different books apeal to them blah blah. I've actually not found much help in a Sunday school, they go by too slowly, and ofter they are biased toward a certian interpretation, but that's your call on that one!

And of course, Wikipedia is a good place to start with your understanding :)

Reply:I recommend getting the Bible that has on front on how to read the Bible in one year. It is a good outline looks mlike and should help you :) It should be in the section in your bookstore where the Bibles are located.. Hope this helps!

God Bless!
Reply:It might help to get a bible guide. Selwyn Hughes of the 'Everyday with Jesus' devotional fame, has a One year plan for the study of the bible. If you want online courses try ChristianCourses.com
Reply:well this is a question of faith and foundation... if you take a approach of your own back ground and your current status and then just open your heart and your bible at the same time .....and you will read it slowly of quickly your choice .....you will receive the message that it contains
Reply:I HAVE EAD THE BIBLE THREE TIMES AND I HAVE TWO SUGGESTIONS FOR YOU. FIRST , TRY BY READING THE BIBLE FROM THE BEGINING ,THE BOOK OF GENESIS AND CONINUE ALL THE THROUGH UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED REVELATIONS.BY READING THE BIBLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH BOOK BY BOOK CHRONILOGICALLY YOU'LL SEE THAT IT IS A STORY BOOK HISTORY OF CRISTIANITY AND HOLY EVENTS THAT UNFOLD IN A SORT OF BIOGRAPHY BOOK OF RELIGIUOS EVENTS.BY READING EACH BOOK IN HE BIBLE THE IN ORDER IT HELPS YOU GET A CLEAR PICTURE OF WHAT IT IS TRYING TO SAY .IT ALSO HELPS YOU TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE STORIES MUCH MORE OBJECTIVLEY AND LESS LITERALLY.
Reply:Please remember the bible is simply offspring of a long auditory tradition. All the understanding you might need is only gained through your own self realization. This book is only a set of suggestions or morals that can be applied after one explores the path set forth by the greater power at work in ones life. Don't ever forget that you have a purpose and don't let any book blind you to that.
Reply:Becuase of everyone has different felt, and everyone do apperceive himself therefore the answer is difficult.

The best way is contemplate, compare when make qualification.
