How can I study the Bible better? I already have a notebook, but I don't know what to write down in it.?

I usually just jot down my thoughts and questions on the passage as well as additional verses I need to look up.

well if you want to stay a good little christian certainly avoid all things that suggest that god might be a psycopath. read nice little god is love things and you'll be a christian forever
Reply:Tell me what you've learned?

Exactly.
Reply:God does not speak to each person individually, he has a channel within an organization, to instruct us in his ways. That's why there are so many religions, because everybody is saying God talked to me, he appeared to me, he gave me a revelation etc, That is so ridiculous, Jehovah is an orderly God and he does things in an organized fashion. 1Cor. 14:33 Acts 15: 14,17. Psalms 83:18 You alone are Jehovah Isaiah 43:10-12 You are my witnesses. I strongly recommend that you study with Jehovah's Witnesses, we have a biblical book that we're studying with any interested bible student, the title is " What Does the Bible Really Teach". Get in contact with them as soon as possible. May Jehovah Bless You
Reply:Start "in the beginning", and continue to "amen". Avoid "Bible study" groups as these are tools of fundamentalist con men used to make you believe a bunch of stuff, that if read beginning to end, makes no sense at all.
Reply:subscribe to "The daily bread" its free.
Reply:The best way to read the bible and get understanding is by subject. There are many books that help you to do this. Choose a subject and read all the scriptures that apply to that subject and you will find that the bible is actually not that hard to understand and is practical for every situation.

For example Death is something everyone deals with and struggles to understand but the bible explains...why do we die? - Gen 2:17,Romans 5:12...What happens when we die?- Ecclesiastes 9:5,Psalms 146:4

Pray to God and let him know that you are seeking

understanding and I guarantee he will help you. It is wonderful that you have a desire to study the bible as you can see by the answers you got not everyone has that desire that's why the bible says "Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need..." Not everyone is...Good for you!
Reply:Perhaps you should find better things to do with your time, like maybe a hobby.
Reply:Sounds pretty good to me....That's what I do and if I feel a passage was especially significant I write it down to refer to instead of having to look it up.
Reply:Pray... and realise that God talks.

Jeremiah 33:3 call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know

John 10 tells us that "God's people will know his voice"

and Isaiah tells us that whether we turn to the left or to the right we WILL HEAR a voice behind us saying, 'this is the way walk in it'

So ask God to talk to you about what he's written. He'll do it. Before you know it there won't be enough notebooks for you to fill...
Reply:Well, you can get a Bible Reader's Guide (some libraries have them, or at a bookstore)

You can go to biblegateway.com and click on "additional resources" on the lefthand side, then "commentaries" on the page that comes up.

It has quite a few of the New Testament commentaries.

Also, I know a lot of people who write in their Bibles, or highlight (you can actually get dry bible highlighters that don't soak through)

Or, you can buy a Study Bible, that has all of the explanations below.

Hope that helps! :)

Also, please ignore rude comments on here. I pray for the people on here who don't know the Lord.
Reply:Dear Skye,

I would suggest reading First John and as God speaks to you through certain verses ( ones that stand out to you) keep a note of each one and then as you study read these verses prayerfully for more understanding of them~

an excellent study for these times~

God Bless you
Reply:The first step in studying the bible is to realize it's nonsense.

Reply:learn koine Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew and learn about the culture and idoms of the time.

OR

Learn from a group which DOES.

Otherwise there are too many misunderstandings and cultural biases to correctly interpreting the bible.

Contrary to popular belief.. the bible is not that simple to understand.. not unless you are talking about a very superficial understanding.

Otherwise your own biases and lack of knowledge will alter your understanding
