Jehovahs Witnesses, are your home Bible studies really a Bible study?

Here is what you do that I have seen. You ask a person to study with you,and instead of studying the Bible, you study a paragraphed book with numbered questions. It only quotes the Bible.Do you actually consider a man made book study a Bible study?

Jehovahs Witnesses, are your home Bible studies really a Bible study?
Try to get a JW to throw away his or her Watchtowers and Awakes and all his JW books and study ONLY the Bible (any version) for one year.

I guarantee that it will never happen. If I'm wrong and it does happen, that person will cease being a JW.

Reply:When Jehovah's Witnesses offer a "free home bible study" to a student, that is exactly what they deliver.

(Matthew 10:8) You received free, give free.

For decades, Witnesses have always offered some bible study aid (at no charge), which simply presents the bible's teachings by topic. Nearly every paragraph has multiple Scriptural citations, each paragraph has a review question, and each chapter has a summary box with 3 to 5 scriptures/points. Over 50 million copies of the the current study aid, "What the Bible Really Teaches", were distributed between its release in Summer 2005 and March 2007.

Any householder who prefers to use only the bible, without any other tools, would find his preference more than honored by *ANY* Jehovah's Witness minister. Witnesses are happy to perform this study using multiple bible translations, including any translation the student may prefer.

(1 John 4:1) Test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God

(1 Thessalonians 5:21) Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.

Unlike the religionists in Christendom, no Jehovah's Witness fears the plain message of the bible. In addition, nearly all of the nearly seven million Witnesses are qualified to perform such a bible study.

(Hebrews 5:12) You ought to be teachers in view of the time
Reply:Fine. If u want to study from the Bible and not with the help of a book which explains what the Bible really teaches so that anyone could understand it easily I guess we could do that for you. Maybe after a while u'll understand that God has his people here on earth and that he offers them 'food' (magazines, books etc).
Reply:No problem.

You yourself said that it's a paragraphed book that only "quotes" the bible. And all of them have scriptures to go to so you can see for yourself. The quotes in the brochures, magazines, and books are all taken straight from God's word the bible.

And I'm sure that if you request a Witness to study with you straight out of the Bible, they will be happy to do that. I've gone on a study with someone who had views just like yours. And I'm glad to say that today, she is now conducting studies of her own, out of the bible and with the use of other publications.

At Acts 8:30-35, there was an Ethiopian who wanted to know more about the Bible, but did not know how to understand what he was reading. So Philip helped him. Just as Philip helped that Ethiopian to understand God's Word long ago, Jehovah's Witnesses help people to understand the Bible today.

Well, you obviously didn't read the link in source. A true study of the bible is digging deep to get the true understanding of it. In Matthew 24:45-47 speaks of a 'faithful and discreet slave' class who publish information so others can get the true meaning of what is in the bible.

And no, we don't have to use the New World Translation as our only bible. We'll use a bible from the hospital if that's what you want. The King James version will do just fine as well.
Reply:The book is only a Bible study AID. Perhaps you've never seen the books; everything in them is backed up by scriptures you can look up and see for yourself. So yes, it is really a Bible study.
Reply:Fine question. Although Jehovah's Witnesses pride themselves on being the only religion to offer free home Bible studies, this is by far not the case, for two reasons. One, you would be hard pressed to find a JW who only brings the Bible along with them on this so-called study. Even if they did, it isn't the Bible they are studying, it is the New World Translation. Secondly, these studies are not free on many levels. These Watchtower workers sacrifice their lives to this organization who does not care about them as individuals. They use their own cars, their own gas money and their own time. Although Jehovah's Witnesses will firmly deny all of this, that is the real "truth".
Reply:It seems you have found a smaller, weaker prey than us Atheists
Reply:I'm not a JW but I am a Christian who thinks. I understand your question but I like to phrase it this way. Why do JW's have all this printed material ie books, tracts, awakes, and nwt when these things contradict Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16-says:

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Does this verse say anything about wtbts literature including the nwt which is a neutered bible? No it doesn't. These two verses clearly say that the Bible is all we need to study to learn doctrine, reproofs, correction, and instruction in righteousness. NOT WTBTS LITERATURE.

By the way I know exactly what they teach. My wife used to be deceived by the WTBTS. She was a witness but not anymore. Praise Jesus Christ who is the God of gods!
Reply:I am totally not a JW (I'm a Christian!!!) but I've been to one of their Bible studies. Those people study the Bible a lot! Don't get down on them for that. They just marginalize parts of it, say that they aren't for today; or they put too much emphasis on one or two verses. That's kinda how we all do it. I try not to, but I'm sure that I do. I do feel sorry for the JW's though, because they don't really live free like we do. And, you're right: they rely too much on extra-Biblical literature. I hope that I don't do that as well. I kinda rely pretty heavily on "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A Kempis (written about 300 ad). So, maybe I'm judging them while being exactly like them in my own brand. I probably better be careful of that, huh?
