Koran wrote in Arabic. Muslims are obligate to study this original language where the Koran is written.





What is the reason if you would or wouldn't study the bible in its original language?

Sometimes, it is profitable to go back to the original language to get the exact meaning that the author intended. For example, there are four words for love in the Greek language. In the English language, there is only one. Each Greek word has a subtle shade and difference in meaning.





The Same is true about Hebrew. We have one word for praise, but in the Hebrew there are seven different words for it.





It would be good if everybody could read the Bible in the original ancient languages. But not everybody possesses that knowledge. If you could, you would get all the nuances of language.





Again the Bible can stand up in court of law under the rules of evidence. The Ancient Rabbis that copied it, counted every letter and every word and tabulated the total at the foot of the page. There were counts of the number of consonants and vowels also. That is how meticulous they were.





Also, when you take the Maesoretic text which is the most accurate texts and compare to other texts or even the Dead Sea Scrolls that have been around for hundreds of years, you would find that there is essentially no change in meaning. The only change would be in the writing style of one or two letters. This is amazing! Your Bible is textually the most accurate book in existence; second to it is Homer's Illiad!





In whatever language the Bible is translated, God can still speak powerfully to you. Remember, God has a hand in the formation of all the languages and the course of entire human history. When the Gospel is preached to evey living creature as a witness to all nations, He will use all the world's languges.





However, it is not necessarily the language that makes the difference but the Holy Spirit giving you the revelation of the Word.
Reply:I would be happy to, but the only problem is the original language of the bible isn't just ONE language!





One would have to start as a child to become fluent in all the Original languages, then it would take more time than any one person has to study the Bible in it's entirety.





But it is a good thought!
Reply:I study the Bible in it's original tongue, but reading the Koran is a waste of time because it is false and Mohammad is a false Prophet.
Reply:I've studied the bible in english, aramaic, greek, and hebrew.





As a result, I'm satisfied that the english translations that I choose to use are both reliable and accurate.
Reply:I have studied the scriptures in the Aramaic and Greek...however, since English is my native tongue, and there are good translations in my own language that are accurate, I use the English translations. If I find a problem passage where the exact definition of a word used is needed, I can use a Lexicon, or find the word in many study tools available that will give me the EXACT meaning as used in the context.





God leaves NOTHING up to chance. He wants ALL to know of His wonderful plan to redeem mankind.
Reply:Yes, I would love to be able to read the Bible in its original langauge - Hebrew. The translated Bibles may not convey the exact meaning.
Reply:Bible has Old Testament and New Testament. Old is written in Hebrew. New is written in Greek. As it is difficult to learn this language for all kinds of tongues, they translated it to our tongues. So it is easy for us to understand.


I have a muslim friend who told me that though she reads Koran in Arabic, she does not understand it. She simply reads it. So what is the use?


God has nothing particular in any languages. He knows all the languages. He loves all tongues. So it is better to read Bible in our tongue. I know 5 languages. But I prefer to read Bible in my own language.
Reply:no need for God said; Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.





Therefore, what's the use of reading the original text, for God did make it readable to plain language using those that are knowledgeable to do such works, whom God sent to do the translation. Are we saying we have to prove them first by ourselves? Maybe before you accomplished such, you already snared by the worldly system trying to disproved and twist the Scriptures because of self-righteousness and ubelief!





For God will not let anyone to perish, John 3:14-18.





BUT it is our choice to either receive His free gift of salvation by believing with faith in our hearts in Lord Jesus Christ as the only way no other way to have eternal life, John 14:6 or just having an unbelieving hearts and die with our sins, John 8:23-24. AMEN.
Reply:Although I use the King James version to study scriptures I find it uselful and to use the Strongs Concordance coded to the hebrew/greek and chaldee to respond to the many idioms and language nuances of the scripture.


My KJV is also a E.W. Bullinger study bible where this linguist expert provides insight by the Massoretic text.

Coz I heard many of my friend that never understand the meaning of those sentences in Koran, coz they had told that it is prohibited to study Koran in other language. Funny ?

Oh but you should notice that ancient Greek is really a dead language. You cannot carry on a conversation in Greek like you can with someone in Arabic. Also most Jews do not even speak Hebrew but Yiddish.
Reply:because it would probly cost thousands of dollars to learn the language it was originaly written in hebrew? somthing of the sort im not sure i would if it was possible
Reply:original text and original language would be great, if the original were preserved, which it wasn't.
Reply:Yes I would because it has much more information in it. It is inspired by God's Holy Spirit and, it's not anything taken away from it.
Reply:I have a concordance that tells the meaning of the original Greek and Hebrew words of the Bible, but I have no need to actually learn the languages because I don't know anyone that speaks those languages. If I could read the Bible in its original languages, I would still have to rely on my English to understand it; I could understand Hebrew or Greek only on the basis of the corresponding words in English.

Reply:It's OK, you're fine. If I knew Greek or Hebrew I certainly would love to study the bible in that language. I think much of the bible was written in Greek. Greek is a hard language to learn.
