Reply:Yes, "What does the bible really teach", it's simple to understand, and it goes into pretty much everything. If you want a free personal copy, just contact Jehovahs Wittnesses in your Area.
Reply:What does the bible teach. since it was published in 2003 its already been printed in millions of examplarys. best of all: its free. well the best is it works, really. its got detailed chapters and a comprehensive annex. trust me. you wont be disappointed. Its published by jehovahs witnesses. next time they stop by your place, ask them for one.
Reply:I think the best book to read to learn about the bible is the bible itself.
Reply:NIV Bibles, some newer student edition ones can help... but I would ask 'why get closer in the first place?' but thats just me
Reply:Walking the Bible, by Bruce Feiler, helped me study the first five books of the Old Testament.

As for the New Testament, William Barclay has a book for every book found there. He breaks down the scriptures, and talks about the history of the times, and it really helps to understand what was going on. He breaks down difficult passages and helps you apply them to your life. So far I've read Romans, Acts, Mark, James, and Corinthians, and I'm about to start John. Good luck!
Reply:To get closer to God, I suggest you read Max Lucado's "The Applause of Heaven"
Reply:Read Step by Step through the Old and New Testaments. It is an overview of the whole bible.
