What is the best study or devotional bible for a 10 year old boy?

I want to buy a bible for my 10 year old nephew but I want to make sure it is one he will actually be able to read and learn from. His parents aren't Christians and he has alot of questions. I help as much as I can, but I'm 500 miles away. He wants a bible to learn from and I told him I would get him one but just because I can comprehend it doesn't mean he can. Any suggestions?

What is the best study or devotional bible for a 10 year old boy?
I have been teaching bible study for 9-11 year olds for several years now. They are my favorite age group because of their enthusiasm. They are very capable of comprehending scripture and are open to learning.

I prefer the NASB bible as it is translated word for word, and does not water down the scriptures like some bibles that are out today do.

As well as a bible, you might consider getting some of the study materials designed for kids that I use. Kids can do them on their own, although it is nice to have an adult to keep them on track.

The studies I use for that age group are called "Discover 4 Yourself" bible studies by Kay Arthur of Precept Ministries.

One nice feature is that the scripture that is used for each study is printed out in the back of the workbooks, which makes it easy for kids.

The Discover 4 Yourself bible studies for kids can be found at most Christian Book stores or you can order directly from precept ministries:

One suggestion may be to get a copy of the study for yourself as well as your nefew and work through them together. You could "discuss" each week's lesson via email or telephone.

I hope this is helpful. The best part of my week is teaching this age group, they are not intimidated to ask questions and share what they have learned.

feel free to email me if I can be of any help to you with this

Reply:King James - and tell him when he comes across something he can't understand to pray about it or email you.
Reply:You might try the Children's Bible published by Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Reply:There are a few childrens bibles at www.21stcc.com; just go there and go to the bible category and type in childrens in the product search area. My prayers are with you and your nephew.

Reply:I recommend that you get him a Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible. Now is the perfect time to get him started learning about what the original languages say.
