Lets talk about God. No this is not a bible study or an athiest trying to set people right.?

God.

Even mentioning that brings up so many questions in so many people. My question is this. Why do you feel the need to ask other people their opinions of God? Or if they have proof of God? Or if they have proof that God doesn't exist? I'm not saying there is a God or not but atheiests and Christians alike ask all the time. Is there really a God? So I want to know why you want to know what other people think? You should know by now even without asking other people that the odds are even. Asking other people is just going to give you answers like God doesn't exist because blah blah or God does exist because blah blah.

Lets talk about God. No this is not a bible study or an athiest trying to set people right.?
I never ask because I don't wonder anymore.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.

During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother don
Reply:Could be they ask to make the fears or their beliefs solid to themselves. They could just want to know what other people think and believe.
Reply:I agree. I think it's really just trying to spark an argument. Like I told another guy, if it's my belief, I don't have to prove it, and if it's your belief He doesn't exist, then you don't have to prove it. You believe what you believe and that's all. There are just so many people that want to act like they are superior to other's beliefs no matter what.
Reply:People's basic beliefs affect how they behave...

This covers political and social values as well as theological ones. If you are going to interact with people, where they stand on x, y or z can be a matter of practical and even pressing importance.

Is your town or country to spend money on x, or ban it?

Views on God are likely to make a difference to that.

Differences in religious and political views have caused many wars before now. Not easy then to simply put them on one side.

Then there is the basic philosophical desire to understand the world. Different world views are out there, painting variant pictures of the universe. Discussion of the similarities and differences is inevitable, for the curious and the truth-seeker.
Reply:of course what other people think is important, everyone bases their beliefs on something someone else has told them, on some evidence someone has shown them, some experience they have shared with them... if someone tells me we found a new planet in our solar system... i would not sit back and think about the question and decide if it is true or not i would ask him a thousand questions and i would ask everyone else what they think, i would read and question, and then maybe decide for myself, but questions are starting place... kids dont believe in god until their parents tell them there is one, they ask why and an answer is hard to give them, eventually they keep asking why and if nobody gives them a good answer they will stop believing.. i have never found a good answer as to why i should believe in god, so i do not believe, but if someone keeps saying something is true and i do not think it is, i want to keep asking them why they believe it, if someone keeps saying their are aliens abducting to people, i want to ask him questions, and see why he believes something so extraordinary, it is interesting, and who knows maybe some answer might convince me
Reply:It's foolish not to care about the opinions of others. "The odds are even."- how did you determine this probability? There is no God. The reason is that his existence is inconsistent with the state of affairs on the Earth. It's clear there is no all-powerful being who cares about us, or things would not be like they are.
Reply:80% believe in a higher being and 20% don't, so what the problem is? Like you said, faith is remarkably impervious to logic and logic does not account for faith, so why challenge each other. I'll believe, when i see the proof, others can make up their own decisions, its not up to me.
Reply:Hello! fatp3ngu1.

At some time in each life people become God conscious.

God made man with an empty vacumme a loneliness so that they would see their need to come back to Him.

Some choose for Him others choose against.

I think the time in which we are living is making people ask questions.

An atheist who says God doesn't exist must believe to a certain extent or he would not call Him God.

For every number of people who muck rake there are as many who are genuinely seeking answers.

In the not to distant future there is going to be tribulation this world has not seen before.

No man knows the day or the hour only God the Father knows and His time clock is ticking at around 5 minutes to 12.

This is one reason why I care enough to look in here on a regular basis and try to answer questions.

Take care!
Reply:Your question is really good. I completely agree to it. Every one has their own belif and they stick to that. There is no point in asking about others opinion and proof on our or theit belief. If you ask hindus they will say we worship god. Christians on the otherway Jeasus Christ the messenger. Muslims there is no deitiy. If all of them debate on their beliefs then there won't be peace in the world. My strong concept is that if you stick to your belief then it will show you the way for success, happiness and self awareness.
Reply:I believe what I believe without worrying about the opinions of others. It's hard for me to look outside and see the earth in all of it's beauty without believing in a supreme being. I know what you are saying though and it irritates me too. Why can't we all just have faith in our own personal beliefs and not worry about the opinions of others? If this happened there wouldn't be all of the fighting on yahoo answers!!
