Bible study help!!!?

ok so me and my friends want to start a bible study club. we have adult help but we want to most of it on our own. So we thought that we could show the adults that we were responible enough to handle it on our own. we have gotten most of it taken care of except for the biggest part- the lesson or topic. so if anyone has any ideas please tell me. thank you so much...

Bible study help!!!?
I think it is wonderful that you and your friends want to study the Bible! "Lula" gave some really good topics, and advice. I want to add something. It is very important that you say a prayer at the beginning of your study each time, asking God for his holy spirit to help guide you and to lead you to accurate knowledge and understanding of his word...also at the end of your study, to thank him.

(Matthew 18:20) “. . .For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.””

There is something that I would like to bring to your attention. It is the "Lord's Prayer" at

(Matthew 6:9-13) "“YOU must pray, then, this way:

“‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. 11 Give us today our bread for this day; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’"

Notice that the first thing that it says is about God's name. Learn all you can about it. Jesus is telling us how important it is, God's name. You can find God's name in the King James Version of the Bible at Psalm 83:18.

Next, Jesus said to pray for God's Kingdom to come, and for God's will to be done as in heaven, also upon the earth. Find out what that means, do research. Check everything you learn with the Scriptures, if something seems like it is too mysterious to understand, then maybe there is another explanation. God gave us his word, not to confuse us, but to help us learn what he requires. Find out what God's kingdom is. (read Daniel 2:44).

I wanted to add one other thing, Lula mentioned it in her answer, learn the books of the bible because it will make studying it so much easier. Learn them like 5 at a time, keep adding 5 until you know them all. You will be so glad you did. there are many adults that can't find scriptures because they don't know where to look. If you want some tips on making things easier to learn, I am an avid Bible student and will be glad to share some study tips. You can e-mail me. Hope you have a wonderful bible study group!
Reply:thats awsome you are doing that! my fav part in the bible is proverbs. it talks about youths and wisdom. Report Abuse

Reply:Check the resources from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at fca.org. You can find things just for your needs.
Reply:Awesome God is a teen devotional study that is just that AWESOME!!!! anyhow, it was a good sunday school cirriculum. Its by Neil Anderson.
Reply:Recommend you start with a bible study concerning the life of a Christian using 1 Peter.

Peter is especially dealing with suffering in the Christian life. So far his readers seem to have undergone slander and ridicule for Christ (1Pe_4:14-15). Prison, confiscation of property, and violent death for many still apparently lay in the future. Suffering is not the only theme of this great Letter, however. The blessings inherited by accepting the gospel, the proper relationships of believers with the world, the state, the family, and the church, and instruction on elders and discipline are all included.

From “Babylon”—either the literal city on the Euphrates with its Jewish community, or spiritual Babylon on the Tiber (Rome)—the apostle sends this Letter to the eastern provinces of what is now Turkey.

Reply:I think the lessons you should teach are the ones you struggle with the most. You should be able to come up with a good lesson plan book for Teens at a good christian bookstore. Or if you want to have lessons on other things then look for those topics at the store. However one thing that is never a bad Idea for any age is the study of the Saviors life or the study of the New Testament. You can find study guides for that in a lot of bookstores and it will touch upon all the problems teens are faced with at some point or another. Good luck and God Bless.
Reply:Joel Olsteen's web site allows you to get an encouraging message every day...you could get that and then talk about it.

K-Love radio sends a daily scripture...but you'd have to look up your own information about it.

Your local Christian Bookstore may have some books you could use like Improving your Serve by Chuck Swindoll. Or the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.
Reply:How about the conscience, or conviction. This is a very interesting topic, and everyone has a testimony as to how they were convicted, which led to their salvation.
Reply:Questions Young People Ask—Answers That Work is unlike other books produced for youths. It is the product of discussions with hundreds of youths all over the world. And its answers, based on God’s Word, the Bible, really work! Here are just some of the questions this book answers:

Why Should I ‘Honor My Father and My Mother’?

Why Are My Brother and Sister So Hard to Get Along With?

How Can I Cope With Peer Pressure?

Do My Clothes Reveal the Real Me?

Why Do I Get So Depressed

How Can I Improve My Grades?

What Career Should I Choose?

How Can I Say No to Premarital Sex?

Honesty—Is It Really the Best Policy?

How Can I Get Over a Crush?

How Do I Know If It’s Real Love?

Why Say No to Drugs?

How Can I Control My TV Viewing Habits?

What Does the Future Hold for Me?

How Can I Get Close to God?

This book would provide a very fine basis for lively Bible discussions. It is available free of charge.
Reply:Why don't you try to follow the church year? You could take the Epistle or Gospel scripture for the day and focus on it, whichever one wasn't part of the sermon.
Reply:Tjhat is a verry good idea for you to study the Bible, it is good because you can see for yourself what it actually says, some topics you mightlook at:

Why we grow old and Die.

Who is God?

What happens at death?

What kind of place is hell?

What is God's purpose for us?

What is God's purpose for our earth?

Why does God allow wickedness and suffering?

Who made the devil?

More Benefits from studying the Bible...

http://watchtower.org/library/w/2001/7/1...
Reply:look in a news paper for a story of social conflict. the war, poverty, ect. then look to the bible for an example of how jesus would have delt with the situation.
Reply:hey i think its great you want to start a bible study group with your friends. I've also done and still keep up with daily bible reading and bible study topics, here are some of the topic's that are a good foundation for you to go with, or some lessons, etc.

1) first of all you need to learn God has a name and what it is and what it means. Psalms 83:18 says that God's name is Jehovah, even though alot of Bibles have removed the name entirely.

2) I think it would be good for you and your friends to type out a list of the Bible books in their order and memorize those. There are 66 Books in the Bible, but its fun to learn those.

Things to research could be:

What is God's Purpose for the Earth?

Who is Jesus Christ?

What is the Ransom and why is it important?

What happens at death?

What is God's Kingdom?

What kind of worship does God approve?

Even start with the basic "bible stories" learning about Noah and the ark and compare it with the crime and violence going on in our day.

Reading about Moses and the ten plagues is a cool account and how he parted the Red Sea when the Egyptians were chasing after them and to imagine what that must have really been like.

Or how when Nimrod was building the Tower of Babel because he didn't like Jehovah God, how God confused the languages of the people so they couldn't finish.

You guys can read about Job (he has a book named after him) and read about how he suffered but his faith and integrity always remained strong to God.

Your parents will like you reading in Ephesians about being obedient and it also has advice for parents too in that 6th chapter!

It sounds like you and your friends have the motivation! That is great. Just make sure you use your bibles and the things you learn you can support with scriptures. Write down your favorite ones and memorize them. Your bible study really is a way to draw you close to God and become his friend and it will give you hope for the future.

Reply:I would start with Christ as a child in the temple. That even the young can be aware of God's words and understand them.

Then his temptations what these were and why and go onto his baptism and then the first words of his ministry.

Use all four gospels to get a full picture of each action and teaching of Jesus. Take it a little at a time.

Play your favourite Christian music, eat together, all this Christ and his followers did.
Reply:Please be careful on this forum-you are going to get some very rude and insincere answers! I think its awesome that you are doing this. I could give you some suggestions for specific topics or even some example lessons and you may contact me for help if you would like. I would, however, suggest that you make a list of things you are curious about-and have your friends do the same. This way, you not only create a bible study to teach others, but you learn in the process, too! Try to keep it relevant to the youth-think of things that your group and those attending would be interested in-and how it applies and affects your life right now. Also, and equally important, you should pray about it. God will reveal what He want you to do-or at least send you in a direction. As long as you are doing His will and bettering His Kingdom for His glory, you are going to be successful at this! I will pray for you, and if you need advice, please feel free to contact me. God bless and good luck:)

Reply:If you want to start a Bible Study, pls. consider the following suggestion that might help a bit:

1. Pray for it first before starting any bible study

2. Must Have an elder or pastor in your group for supervison

3. conduct a regular prayer meeting

4. Start your Bible study in the Book of John (with prayer)

From there, God will reveal amny things concerning salvation.

Reply:If you aren't going to study the bible in a historical context and with a critical mind you might as well not bother. There are much better books of fantasy you could pass your time with... try the Lord of the Rings series.

The foundations we should build our lives on when we come into the Family of God. Without the firm foundation of the new life in Jesus Christ it's hard to continue with true convictions or testimony of who we are in Him. Christian Identity.

Reply:You're teenagers, so pick a topic of importance to your age group: the importance of abstinence, the importance of having faith in God (use Mary as an example-she was in her teends when she had Jesus), the importance of evangelizing to your friends...I'm sure God is really proud of you though for making such a bold step at your age!

Reply:Start off with the Law of God. that is the most important, some people think the law was done away or nailed to the cross but it wasn't. Jesus said, "I have not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it". Gods laws, the 10 commandments are a good topic.
