I need Help with bible Study?
Life doesn't happen in a vacuum. I think there are some things you need to clear up in your relationships that you mentioned. God will not bless your study if there is contention or bitterness at all in it.

However having said that, every Christian has the right and responsibility to study God's word on their own. It is without a doubt the most powerful Bible study you can have. There are three principles to studying the Bible which guarantee that you can find the truth, but it takes quite a sacrifice to follow them.

1. The first is let God teach you Himself through His Holy Spirit.

In James 1 it says "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all men generously and without reproach and IT WILL BE GIVEN TO HIM.

2. You must be willing to do what God says. God does not give information that is not needed or will not be used. Jesus said in John 7:17 - "If any man is willing to do His will he will know the teaching" Without a willingness to do what God says the Bible is a closed book.

3. Stay in the Bible. Error comes when we get out of God's word and into human writings, reason, following men etc. Jesus said in John 8:32 "If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

Do you see that all three of those verses tell us that we can know the truth.

Start each day to read the Bible and do a little study on it. Ask God for wisdom and commit yourself to God to do the things He teaches you (This is the most difficult) and allow the Bible to interpret the Bible, not some study notes.

If you want a really good devotional to read along with it the best there is is Oswald Chambers "My Utmost for His Highest".

Reply:Just start a Chistian book club, and assign a different chapter of the bible for each meeting. You and any friends who are also interested could meet and discuss what the verses could mean...

You should pray with quality time before you study. The thing to pray for is for God to reveal His understanding to you. Not as man understands it but as God means for it to be. Then study your bible. It will help you tremendously. This is not to say that you should not study with someone else or forsake to gather yourself with the saints when the church doors open. personally, I don't follow a bible study, unless the bible is the only text being used to conduct the study . However, I do support going to church for services. Many of the books out there are on a time table and not really helpful as they have alot of mans understanding. Many are from bible scholars that do not have a real prayer life and lead many people to man's understanding of God's word.

As sfor the coming over to your house to conduct a bible study with your husband when you expressly told them no too. Talk with the pastor about that problem. If it's the pastor. You need to run and find somewhere else to worship.
Reply:Buy yourself a good "study bible." One that is a modern translation and has annotations and footnotes. Then read it. You want a version/translation that has been done for scholarly purposes that is a true and accurate translation. Not a version meant to influence your thinking one way or another.
Reply:I find it intolerable that you would be treated in a manner that does not honor God.

Please consider studying with a Jehovah's Witness-they will not treat you in that manner. They are so well informed about our Loving God and His purpose for the earth for He is Kind.
Reply:Why do you have to study it? Is it that hard to understand? My suggestion would be to get a bible and then just read it.
Reply:It's really unfortunate that your Bible Study leader got a little overzealous in seeking out your husband to join the study. Are there other churches or studies in your area? If you are in a larger city, look for a church offering a Beth Moore study. They are really good.
Reply:just read on ur own simplified version of bible
Reply:Go to a Christian Book store and buy a study course on the Gospel of John. Then, enlarge your scope by getting into other book studies like Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

Also, I would suggest that you attend a Christ-centered, Bible teaching/preaching church. Many of them have special study series that could help you much.
Reply:Just be gentle and blunt. Tell them again that you don't want to do it.

Then if they don't listen, tell them they are being rude and disrespectful and need to leave you both alone.

Reply:What do you want to study? Have you considered finding a new study group? If you are uncomfortable with the study group, search elsewhere, possibly even another church. Obviously God has given you insight that you needed to leave that particular group. It may or may not be a reflection of the general ways of the church as a whole. Only you can determine that, as you would know how the rest of the congregation acts.

Pick a subject or book in the Bible and start reading. Ask God to lead you in your study. You can study by verifying NT scripture with OT scripture and vice a versa. You can use the Internet, the Library, other church sites, etc. email me if you want.
Reply:well if your gonna do your own personal Bible Study, I suggest that you first read a good book on hermeneutics like, "Grasping God's Word" by Duvall and Hayes or "How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth" by Fee and Stuart. Those books will give you very basic, but very important skills when it comes to reading and interpeting the Bible. After that, I suggest you get your self on a set schedule for doing the study. Like an hour each day, either after work or dinner or whenever, just try to make it the same time each day.

Reply:First. Pray about it. Then ask the Father to give you guidance to pesuit your studies. He will. Then follow your heart and open the scriptures. I'm certain you will find the answer there.
