Do you study Bible, the most important book on earth?

Bible was written over 1,500 years, with about 40 writers. It has been foundation of Western civilization . Numberous people died in its defense from destruction. It is guide to Heaven, a handbook for living. Yet in can be bought in a few dollars anywhere in the world.

Do you study Bible, the most important book on earth?
It's a book written by man. A book that has been changed %26amp; edited throughout those 1,500 years to reflect various views. It's a good reference book. But so is the yellow pages. At least with the yellow pages the answers are pretty straight forward. With the Bible to many people get different answers even after reading the same passage. Like it's ok to get bit by snakes or drink poison to show your closeness with the Lord. Or it's OK to hate certains races or religious groups because the Bible says so.

Well I don't fall into that BS. As mention I use it as a reference guide still knowing it's not perfect. Because the authors of the book aren't perfect.
Reply:sURE, SURE TRUE
Reply:Not as often as I should but the more I learn from attending church services on Sunday I seen to be getting more into it the bible, learning more day by day.
Reply:The bible is poorly written. Just read it and see.
Reply:It is a manual of religious intolerance, bigotry, crimes against humanity, and misogyny.

Yes, I have studied it. While there are many good things, I cannot ignore the bad. Its words have also been used as an excuse by many to committ almost unthinkable crimes with the paradigms like

"what's a lifetime of torture if you convert before death and live in paradise for all eternity?"

"Kill them all, the good christians will go to heaven and the heathens will burn in hell."

"A witch will float and then must be burned, a good christian will drown and go to heaven"
Reply:I used to study the gospels, although I do not believe it is a true book.

Moses kicks a*s though
Reply:Not always...but I had and I do sometimes...
Reply:what about books that teach reading and writing . thats right who needs education when you have god
Reply:no answered bye 666
Reply:I have studied all the major religious texts of the world. I did not find any single text more or less important than any of the others.
Reply:Actually, the Rand McNally Atlas is the most important book in the world. With The Atlas, you can find your way to your destination. With The Atlas, you can locate bridges, rest areas, towns, cities, airports, mountains, and amusement parks. The Atlas is a book of facts, based on real photographs of the Earth, and doesn't leave any room for debate. It's the real deal. It's scientifically proven. It's sound. It cannot be disputed by morons.

The Bible, on the other hand, is a book of fairy tales written by fictional characters who were probably smoking crack.
Reply:its a clear example that humanity never changes
Reply:Seriously, the most important book in the world is the Phone Directory.

That has a far greater impact on my life than the Bible
Reply:I READ IT periodically, but not as often as I should.
Reply:Not as much as I should.
Reply:From what I have studied, it seems to be self-contradictory and those who claim to follow it verbatim could never do so realistically because of the plethora of odd customs and laws set up in it.
Reply:Nope
Reply:yes!! i love the bible! it is the living spirit and its amazing. Im Christian and porud to say it.
Reply:nope....i disagree about it being the most important book on earth ....that is your opinion....while i think parts of the bible are very beautiful...some versus have even made me cry...it is far from a handbook for living...
Reply:no. what may be most important to you is merely a book of fiction to me.
Reply:Stuart, WHAT a ******* answer. Spectacular. Exactly what I was thinking! They were either on weed or some other hallucinogenic drug! Probably magic mushrooms!!!
Reply:I used to be in a bible study and wish I still were. No, unfortunately I do not read it on my own. I know I should. We all find a million and one excuses why we don't do something. That is sad but a fact of life. Even though I don't read it, I still have great faith and I would die for it.
Reply:I dont s t u d y the Bible as its hard for me study something as you said ....was written by about 40 writers all claiming to have been speaking for GOD himself. However, I do beleive it is a great spiritual guideline of how we should eliminate living in chaos and if any book ever was, ...this would be the only one that I would vote to be somewhat touched by GOD. I think people should beware of the various versions like...King James who re-wrote a portion of the Bible to accomodate his own lifestyle. So, I say when reading the Bible or anything for that matter, pray that you get out of it what GOD is intending for you to and not some masked version that someone else has is trying to preach to you. God Bless.
Reply:Why can I never find the Bible in the Fiction sectin at the library ?

I find Lord Of The Rings more believable.
Reply:The prince of darkness had apart in the writting of it. About 99.45%.
Reply:that is your opinion.
Reply:Yeah... but now the Bible is just one of the most importantr books found on earth there are other Holy Books.
Reply:Not as much as I should either.

In response to the Atlas guy: I understand that the Atlas is a really important book. Something you will never find though, is "The definitve version of the world Atlas". So something that was true in a 1960 Atlas won't necessarely be true in the 2006 Atlas.

The Atlas is really important for anyone who wants to know about the world and this is really great. The Bible is really important for anyone who wants to know about life and eternity, wich will last a little longer than this world.
