Is bible study a requirement to get into God's kingdom?

Can you be a Christian and not know the bible or care to know?

I have heard people say they are not interested or they have not read or studied the bible and even tease other Christians for having an interest in the bible. How can one be called Christian if they show no interest in the kingdom yet still want to go there and be a part of it?

So calling yourself a Christian makes you one?

Is bible study a requirement to get into God's kingdom?
No Dear, saying you are a Christian don't make you a Christian, anymore than living in a Barn makes you a Cow.

Bible Reading is essential to your Christian walk, and your relationship with Christ Jesus The LORD. The Bible is The Voice of God to you, He will instruct, and enlighten you through His WORD.

Psalm 119:9

Psalm 119:105

Isaiah 55:7 - 11

Ephesians 5:26

II Timothy 2:15

EDIT : You say "Christians" with no interest in The WORD, ridicule "Other Christians" who have an interest in The WORD ?!!!!?

Dear Lady, those who do such a thing do not know Christ Jesus as LORD, and Savior. They fit perfectly into The Scripture in II Timothy 4:3 - 4 !
Reply:It is not a requirement, but God does want us to study His word. Though the Bible we gain knowledge and understanding. Also we come closer to Jesus and His ways and calling in our life.
Reply:One can enter the kingdom of God by being born again (John 3:3). But to be a Christian who lives the abundant life as promised one needs to know and obey the whole counsel of God ie the full gospel. There is a difference being able to enter the kingdom and enjoying the power and the inheritance of the kingdom which those who know and obey the grace and truth of Jesus Christ enjoy here on earth. God bless you.
Reply:No, it is not a requirement.
Reply:studying the Bible is not a requirement. but if one shows no concern for the Bible or even does tso far to ridicule it. then that is not right.

Many people were not able to read a long time ago. but they led a life according to God's commandments. I dont' think God's going to chase them out for something that was not there fault.
Reply:No you can't. You have to study to show yourself approved, test the spirits, know what faith is based on what the Word says and not some mans. How can you love God, love Christ but not be interested in what they say. Of couse there are those who can't read and must have it read to them, they are another story. Anyone who has the ability and will to seek and know the truth for truth's sake will find it. To take someone else's word or create fake beliefs for yourself does nothing to bring you closer to God. A saved relationship with God is based on his conditions or our knowledge of who he really is and loving him. How can someone go to him any other way but by the way he layed out for us in his Holy Word. Christ said anyone who tries to enter in another way is a thief or liar. I wouldn't base my beliefs about God and Christ and the Holy Spirit on what anyone says when I have the source to go to. That's dangerous.
Reply:The Bible we are saved by Faith, and Faith can only come from the Word of God

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith is demonstrated by actions, that are commanded in the Word of God. If one does not know what commandments to obey, then they cannot be saved, despite their claims

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

In a bit of circular direction, one of those commandments is to study the Word of God

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

As you are suggesting, calling yourself a Christian does not make you one.

Matthew 7:22 "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"
Reply:Positively NO!
Reply:I believe God is just and will consider extenuating circumstances. But those who would rather choose their own path to God's Kingdom rather than God's path are not fooling God - only themselves.

God is at the door. He decides, knows who accepted His invitation on His terms, and can decide mercy as He sees fit. But there are no backdoors for anyone calling themselves Christian to sneak-in through - if that is truely their plan.
Reply:No, but it sure helps you live on this earth.
Reply:Actually Christ's commands are

Love God

Love Neighbor.

Study the bible is neither of these.
Reply:By far and away, the vast majority of Christians throughout history have never read or studied the bible. Primarily because no bibles were available, but also becasue the ability to read among laymen is only modern.
Reply:It helps you understand.

When the Israelites came out of Egypt God had to tell them how to behave. They had been slaves and and had been around their captors for too long and picked up some bad habits. They had to change.

We are products of our environment. God wants us with him.

We have to make some changes in order to have a relationship with God.

I would say that he is your Father whom you have met for the first time and are now going to live with him. So you are going to have to find out what he expects of you.

He is making the changes and showing me what he expects.

The Knowledge, that I know that I must submit to his rule and expectations is the beginning and it means my new life with him. The written words are in the Bible.

I know what some say of this and I know of their translation of the relevant scriptures.

But, filling your head with a bunch of stuff will not help you if it doesn't contribute anything to your new personal relationship with your Father. If you have no love, it will mean nothing to you. Love for Him has always been the Issue. Anything else is just Knowledge.
Reply:The only way to Gods Kingdom is as simple as ABC

Admit to God you are a sinner

Beleive that Jesus is Gods Son

Confess your sins

good works, bible study,Shouting Praise THe Lord will not get you into heaven
Reply:Hi Serena,

Apparently it is not. Given the fact that the vast majority of the populations from the Ist century to the end of the 15th or 16th could not read and write and books, before the printing press were only in the hands of the educated, rich and famous, reason would dictate, no you don't. It seemed that going to the Church, looking at the bible stories painted on the beautiful stain glassed windows and listening to the sermons of the priests and ministers was quite sufficient.

The only thing is that if you do not study the Bible along with its history you are very impoverished in your faith and will do a very poor job in convincing others to accept the good news as well as being very poor as an apologetic.

Cheers,

Reply:As a Christian, the studying of Gods Word should not even be remotely considered as a requirement, it should be A WAY OF LIFE!!!!

To be a Christian and not study Gods Word is like having a child and not feeding it. How can a believer grow without studying Gods Word????

1 Peter 2

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Reply:when you become a Christian you yearn to learn more of God. and reading the word gives you strength, wisdom, and brings you closer in your relationship with God.
Reply:Personally, I don't believe that "study" of the Bible is a requirement to being with God for the eternity HE promises. I say this because I knew God selected me to strive to live for HIM and HIS people since I was very young. And for many years I had not picked up a Bible. I now ready HIS word everyday because it energizes me and keeps my connected and focused on God's plan for myself and man as we know and believe.

As long as you know in your heart, what and how God expects of you everyday of your life, the Bible is not a command of read, but I've found many things of interest and information that I would not have known had I not dwelled on it for so many years. Also, it will enable a Christian to have the wisdom and knowledge to help so many others along the way. And isn't that's what it's mainly about, because when you help God's people, you're actually helping yourself.
Reply:God has never stated it's a requirement, but why wouldn't you want to learn more about him and the miracles that took place. His power and his grace. Also, it is necessary to know his scriptures so you can detect false teachers such as "Oprah". Using Gods word, but it different ways to mislead people.

Study it to protect yourself and your heart!
Reply:Thats a trick question, cause if you don't read the Bible or study it you don't know what God says.If you don't know what God says you cannot live right. Christians have power that non Christians don't have , so when we go through things, we have the word of God to go to. The word of God is Power. You cannot make it with out it.
Reply:Only through studying the Bible do we know what God wants of us.

Matthew 28; 19,20

Matthew 24;14
Reply:The last question first. My answer (also the Bible's): Absolutely, 100%, guarantee, no way!!

In fact there will be some standing before Jesus telling Him "look at everything we did in Your Name" and He will tell them "depart from Me for I never knew you." Matthew 7:21-23

When you read psalms. It is full of the love for the Word of God. We believers must have that same love. Anyone who does not is one of those walking in darkness.
Reply:Keep in mind calling oneself a Christian doesnt require anything, just the desire to be beaten up :)

Anyone can call themselves Christians, just like anyone can call themselves any Meist name (Atheist, Agnostice, etc).

Now, Christ's call does makes us want to grow spiritually and the Bible is the best resource.

Blessings!
