4th-5th grade bible study?

So i am starting a 4th-5th grade small group bible study for a girl i know that wanted a high schooler (me) to start one for her and her friends. I was wanting to know if anyone knew of any good teaching reasources for small groups of that age. Im pretty sure most of the girls come from a non-denominational church. I didnt have a small group when i was that age so i cant think of any topics that would be good. So if anyone has some ideas or teaching material for me that would be great!

-thanks

Reply:Live-4-HIM,

I suggest a topical approach. I would choose a topic such as Marriage and then go to www.Biblegateway.com and you should be able to get a number of good New Testament scriptures to read and study from there. They come up with:

1. Genesis 34:9

And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.

Genesis 34:8-10 (in Context) Genesis 34 (Whole Chapter)

2. Exodus 21:10

If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

Exodus 21:9-11 (in Context) Exodus 21 (Whole Chapter)

3. Deuteronomy 7:3

Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

Deuteronomy 7:2-4 (in Context) Deuteronomy 7 (Whole Chapter)

4. Joshua 23:12

Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:

Joshua 23:11-13 (in Context) Joshua 23 (Whole Chapter)

5. Psalm 78:63

The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.

Psalm 78:62-64 (in Context) Psalm 78 (Whole Chapter)

6. Matthew 22:2

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

Matthew 22:1-3 (in Context) Matthew 22 (Whole Chapter)

7. Matthew 22:4

Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

Matthew 22:3-5 (in Context) Matthew 22 (Whole Chapter)

8. Matthew 22:9

Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

Matthew 22:8-10 (in Context) Matthew 22 (Whole Chapter)

9. Matthew 22:30

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Matthew 22:29-31 (in Context) Matthew 22 (Whole Chapter)

10. Matthew 24:38

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Matthew 24:37-39 (in Context) Matthew 24 (Whole Chapter)

This is only an example of what I might do. I would be glad to assist if you are needing such, drop me a note. Have a great study and a wonderful week!

Thanks,

Reply:I like "Amazing Facts". There are dozens of people offering bible study materials. My wife is doing studies with prisoners (who in general are not highly literate) and they have some in simpler English if you need them. You probably do NOT want to use the KJV because its language is more difficult for many people. One of the newer American versions would be more readable.
Reply:Start with the basics:

--Teach them who God is and how much He loves them and also what real love is (1Corinthians 13: 1-13).

--Teach them now, what their purpose is (Purpose Driven Life-Rick Warren).

--Teach them how to make God personal to them. Challenge them to have private talks/prayers with God so they can see for themselves that God is alive and cares about them individually.

--Encourage them to start journals to God. Write out their prayers and requests to Him and to also write out His answers to them.

--Teach them to reverence God and obey His Word.

--Challenge them to THINK. Give them Bible verses to memorize and apply to their own lives.

--Also, research the women of the Bible and teach them how God used them each individually.

God will work with you so that you can tie your lessons into everyday situations/circumstances of their own lives.

Give these young girls positive role models to look up to. And, by the way, one of those present role models will be YOU!

As you work with your young people, you will start being privvy to their personal lives. Help them face their family, school, church, friendship issues with biblical answers from God. That means that you are going to have to study the Word yourself on a daily basis, because trust me, these kids will have some questions for you and you need to be ready to answer them. As their teacher, they will be modeling after you for a time until they get personal with God for themselves, so you will have to aware of your own actions, thoughts, speech, dress, etc.

Talk to the ladies of your church for back up and support, trust me you will need it! Have your church pray for this successful, God given/driven ministry

Go to Christian Books.com and search their website. They have tons of valuable resources for young people.

God's blessing and anointing on you as you train God's ambassadors of the present and future!
Reply:www.lifeway.com has some good things; also your local Christian bookstore should have some materials that would be good. You might have to look in the parenting, section, though. As for general topics, boys, God's idea of beauty, and respecting their parents would be a few good ones to start with for that age group. You should probably get an adult to help you out, at least with determining the material. And make sure they have their parent's permission to attend.
Reply:teamkid.........pretty good program and you can make it real big, or just basic. good bible teachings. alot of denominations use this program.....
Reply:lol
Reply:So the cycle of indoctrination continues to the next generation.

I weep for the future.
Reply:If you are going to do this, independently from the local New Testament Church, at least use the KJV.
