What's the uniqueness of exegetical bible-study?
It's a decent method, but I'd have to disagree with the poster a couple posts above that says you are less likely to impose your own beliefs on the Word. I attended a "church" for some time that prided themselves (prided is the accurate word to describe this place, believe me) on how they teach "line by line, verse by verse". Nevertheless, this "church" had more doctrinal problems than most any other church I had come across. They even had a false gospel.

If a "church" is doctrinally unsound, and their beliefs are fixed ahead of time, then even this type of Bible study won't help them. The Holy Spirit still is the Revealer of truth in the Word.

Reply:You minimize the probability that you will impose your own personal viewpoint on the Scripture.
