A thank you for a bible study home group leader?

I attend a bible study in someones home and we are supposed to do a special thank you to the people who offer their home this week. They know us very well and know that our finances are very tight and next to none. Some of the members are doing things like bringing a plant etc.... What could I do that shows how much I care about the people and still do something for them.





I was thinking I could offer to cook dinner for them or something like that.





Any other ideas???? I don't get paid till after the day of the bible study but it is important for me to do something other than just a card.

Start a memory jar -- which is a large jar with little cards with memories written on them. You can begin by putting your own in there and ask others to offer their memories as well.





In this case the memories should be of how the Lord especially revealed Himself during the study in some special way.





Then as the group has been together, you can add more and more memories to it and really build something very meaningful from your study of His Word that is absolutely unique to your study.





Then as you get together in the future, you can each reach in and read the memories that others have shared throuhg the study of God's Word.

Reply:Clean the house up after the study is over. Don't ask just start. And give a card along with a "thank you" and a big genuine hug!!!

Very thoughtful! If money is really an issue - a seasonal dessert - i.e. apple or pumpkin pie. would be very nice too.


Finally, in your card you could share a special Bible verse from your study that has made an impact on your life. Or a verse that reminds you of their leadership.





My husband and I attend a Bible study group each Sat. eve. and have been with many of the same couples for the past two years. It's a great time of fun, learning and fellowship, isn't it!
Reply:As a Minister's wife I've been the recipient of many wonderfully creative gifts from my ladies. Here are a few items that I've enjoyed receiving that you might like to make for your Bible Study leaders: a small box of tea with a ribbon, ziploc bags of seeds from your flowers with a note stating what they are and how to take care of them, homemade stamped cards, a bag of homemade cookies or a loaf of bread, or a heartfelt thank-you note telling them that you appreciate them opening their home. Or offer to come to their home early to help them get ready for the Bible Study, like cleaning or sweeping the porch, etc. THAT is always a welcome offer!
Reply:I'm a big fan of the IOU. You could volunteer to rake their leaves, clean house, make dinner. The key to an IOU that is a gift is actually following through on it, and picking something that would not be an imposition (some people wouldn't feel comfortable with a friend cleaning their home, for example).





Other than that, can you make anything? There a lot of crafts that don't cost a lot of money that you can make. If you sew, make a little bag to hold things in, or a bible cover or something like that. Good luck!
Reply:A home made gift that has significance for them. A printed certificate of appreciation that is computer generated ready for framing. Or a simple letter or card.
Reply:Do someting homemade, as simple as a card on a piece of construction paper.





It should be the thought behind it and not the amount of the item or whether it is store-bought or not.
Reply:It's a bible study. Why the need for gifts to people who have offered their home for such a wonderful experience. Please write a heartfelt and sincere note on a nice card or notepaper and send it to them. Your kind words will last a lot longer than a plant.
Reply:A lovely cake or pie would be wonderful. A home made or store bought book mark is something a person who studies the bible can always use.
