I'm starting a bible study, what chapter should I start with?

I decided I need to grow with my friends more, to develope more of a close relationship with God and with them...so I'm thinking of doing a bible study. Anyone have any ideas on which chapter to start with and why?

I'm starting a bible study, what chapter should I start with?
John 1... John's Gospel presents the story of Jesus told not from a chronological perspective, but a theological one.

Why?...

Skip almost to the end of the book: John 20:30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in front of his disciples. They are not written down in this book. 31 But these are written down so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. If you believe this, you will have life because you belong to him.

... It is a misuse of the text to take the gospels and shuffle them together like you would a deck of cards. Each author wrote with a particular audience in mind for the purpose of relating specific information about Jesus, his life and ministry. If you study A GOSPEL, don't concern yourself with "making everything fit," but rather, seek what THAT AUTHOR is trying to make you understand about Jesus.
Reply:looking forward to hear from belivers of the word of God only
Reply:In the beginning. and take notes.
Reply:Proverbs or Palms would be good

and Acts

Have a great and wonderful time in the Lord
Reply:I am thankful that you and your friends want to start studying the Bible. I got saved when I was 18. It was only then that I actually started reading the Bible. Now I read it everyday.

Many people have the same trouble you've had reading the Bible, and it can be difficult to understand if you don't know how to go about it. It's helpful to remember that the Bible actually is like a library—a collection of books (some long, some brief), written under the inspiration of God by many authors over hundreds of years.

But just as you wouldn't walk into a library for the first time and start by reading the very first book on the shelf, so you won't necessarily want to start by reading the first book in the Bible. Instead of starting at the beginning, therefore (like you do with most books), I suggest instead you start with what I call the Bible's "center": the four Gospels. (I often suggest people begin with the Gospel of John.)

The Gospels tell us about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus—and once you understand who He is and what He has done for you, the rest of the Bible will begin to make sense. Make the Bible part of your life every day, because "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105).
Reply:Genesis 1.....gives the foundation of all....makes the rest more understandable
Reply:Just start in at the end of Revelations, that is where the earth is at right now. Why? No Time.
Reply:How about John's Gospel chapter 1
Reply:Matthew 5 I think starts the Sermon on the Mount. I think that would be a great place to start.
Reply:i don't know but i just want to tell you your doing a good thing
Reply:deutronomy %26amp; leviticus. because they prescribe what you should do for various sins, etc. that is no longer necessary because Jesus died for our sins. It will give a great foundation for everything Christian.
Reply:Great idea. Why not go to this web site. They have an informative selection of studies that you can do on line.

Reply:Genesis 1 - you have to start at the beginning of anything if you want to learn about it properly.

Great to see we still have some faithful Christians, go with God and be blessed.
Reply:I like Matthew because Jesus is literally showing us the way that we should be as Christians.

Romans is good too.
