Any thing that one should or should not do? What would you be looking for when or if you attend one?
Christian women: What important things are you most interested in if attending a ladies bible study?
Your initial study date should include introductions and ask each person "why" they wanted to do this study. Even if everyone knows each other, it's always interesting to hear the "why".
We ask for prayer requests. We pray for one another every day, every week, until we meet again. You can ask for them to write their prayer request on a slip of paper (you provide) and place it in the bowl in the middle of the room or over by the refreshments. OR each person can ask for a specific prayer. Everyone should write these down and make an effort to pray at least once daily for each member of the study team. Be careful that the prayer requests don't lead to gossip. So often we want to explain "why" we are asking "pray for my day at work on Monday" or "pray that I don't get into another fight with my husband". Keep it at that. The more major prayer request needs to be given up to the Lord. God can always answer prayers - we cannot. So if someone starts the whole, "well, let me preface this with....." deal, you might want to cut in and state that you really don't need to know the particulars and that that is for God's ears alone, but if there is a specific way you can pray for her.......
Women love, love, love to chat. We once chatted so long that we didn't have time for the study. I know it sounds pathetic, however, we just got together and chatted for that one session and all agreed to pick it up on the next week when we kept to our regime. Sometimes ya just can't help it. Just watch out for the gossip! :)
Above all, please know that no one person has all of the answers. If you need an answer that no one can seem to provide, shelf that question and ask your pastor. Get the answer back to the study the following week.
I am looking for structure. I'm looking for a leader that can handle situations as they arise.
Desserts are not always a must at studied - so just provide bottled water, maybe some diet pops, maybe some iced tea or tea bags with hot water.
I love Bible Studying. I can't get enough of it. I've got a group every Thursday night that comes (there are 8 of us) and we're going through the Revelation. It's been fascinating so far.
Much love - in Christ - katiefish %26lt;%26gt;%26lt;
Reply:I would like a plan to start with. Say, study all about the Holy Spirit, gifts of the spirit, angels,,,,whatever, but have a plan and give the scriptures to read, so everyone can come prepared to give their opinions on what they have read. I would like an open discussion, not one based on any particular doctrine.
Don't let any one person, dominate the conversation....bring in the more shy ones and get them to express their opinion. Have a lot of reference material handy, like concordance,,,etc...so if someone has forgotten a scripture they would like to talk about,,,you can find it for them....
Coffee, tea or Coke, with some type of light refreshment, if it is held in a home, would be nice when you finish your study....sometimes the shyer or newer Christians,,, will participate more, when they can relax and get to know everyone.
What time do you want me to come over? LOL
Reply:It would vary from person to person. Me personally, I enjoy studying Bible prophecy. But that's not gender-specific.
Reply:I go for the fellowship and laughter with other Christian women. It is a time to realize that none of us are perfect and not to sweat the little things. There is nothing like sharing the weeks blessings and trials with women of God and having their support. As for what one should or should not do...this is a time to take a deep breath and let go of the stress. Outside of judging and/or being hypocritical nothing is wrong in this worship study. The big thing is that you are together with women who love God and eachother in His love. That brings peace and renewal for the rest of the week.
Reply:I look for classes with open-minded people that really want to learn. I have attended many classes where everyone "knew everything" about the Bible and any opposing views were immediately shot down. I don't go to those kinds of classes anymore.
Reply:The history during the time we are studying. The Author, so we can understand where he is coming from and the cultural facts!
I do not slanted teachings based upon religious ideologies. Therefore, If the teacher does not present the above mentioned...she/he is teaching dogma! I want truth, not dogma!
