Tonight I'm leading our youth group in an exercise in which we'll practice the SPECS Bible study method. This is where you look for a S-ummary of the chapter, the P-romises in the chapter, the E-xamples to follow or avoid, the C-ommands to obey, and S-ins to forsake (S.P.E.C.S.). What chapter would be good to use...one that has most of these elements?
What chapter of the Bible should our group study?
I've never heard this type of study before, thank you you for the insight! This will come in handy
Reply:I think Matthew, anything that Jesus says, is good.
Reply:I would suggest one of the chapters from the Sermon on the Mount. . .Matt 5-7. There's a lot of great things Jesus taught that benefits us, and things we need to be aware of as Christians in this time of age.
Reply:John 6.... though it's one of the longest. Trim it down by focusing on verses 50-56.
The P and C are likely to cause lively discussion.
Reply:I love Romans 12
Reply:start with Psalms then but REVElation is the most interesting
Reply:John 17
Reply:I think that the most important chapter in the entire Bible is John 17. It tells us about God, about Jesus, about us, and the relationship all three have together! I am sorry, but weather it is S.P.E.C.S. or not matters nothing to me. I am mearly pointing out what I think is the most important chapter in the entire Bible. I use an AKJV Key Study Bible.
Reply:Romans chapter 3 or 8 or John chapter 8.
Reply:Ruth, the book of Ruth is a great inspiration to young and old alike. How Ruth was willing to go to a new land, people, etc. To have faith... and ultimately become the lineage of Jesus.
Great book.
:-)
Reply:Start with Promises because promises contains all of the elements of S.P.E.C.S. Promises can be kept or can be given up.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WITH YOUR YOUTH GROUP.
GOD BLESS!
